GAY couples will be allowed to get married and to adopt children from next year, France has announced.
“In the first half of 2013, the right to marriage and adoption will be open to all couples, without discrimination,” Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault told parliament yesterday, confirming an election promise by Socialist President Francois Hollande.
“Our society is evolving, lifestyles and mentalities are changing,” he said in a speech outlining the new Socialist government’s agenda. “The government will respond to that.”
The confirmation came just days after Paris held its annual Gay Pride parade, which this year was buoyed by the promise of the new government to legalise gay marriage and adoption rights.
Symbolically, French Minister for Families Dominique Bertinotti turned out to see the parade floats set off.
A recent survey by pollster IFOP said that gays in France make up 6.5 per cent of the electorate, compared with practising Catholics at 4.5 per cent.A number of European nations allow gay marriage, but not France, where only married couples and not civil union partners can adopt.
European nations including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Britain allow gay adoption.

So, as promised, I’m going to be giving away an extra paw ring! When I first gave her the ring, I didn’t think she’d even like it so I never thought to buy another one for myself. However, when she was first seen out with it, I rushed to the place that I bought it from and got a few more. One to wear and another just in case the one I had broke. It turns out that I very rarely even wear the ring just because I don’t want to lose it and because I actually kind of hate wearing rings. So, that’s when I thought to giveaway this extra one because I know how many fans want them!
About the ring:
- It’s a size 7/8. I wear it on my ring finger and it fits comfortably (doesn’t slide off or anything).
- It’s brass.

Erika, a monster I have only been facebook friends for a couples of weeks, once again got pulled up on stage with Gaga during Marry the Night at the Born This Way Ball in Perth. Before you say she is lucky or it’s unfair, do realise that this is a 17 year old trying to complete her year 12 studies, has taken up 2 jobs to try and afford airfare, accommodation and concert tickets, and every single one of the costumes she wears, she made. So I’d like to say congratulations Erika and you well deserve it :)
